I’ve been getting asked this a lot lately…
“What’s the best way to sell stuff online?”
The short answer is, whatever works…
Okay, so you want to know specifics?
Well, here’s a case study of what one very successful marketer, LeadPages is doing…
First a brief, step-by-step outline. Then I’ll go into details:
- Facebook ad, leading to…
- A “Squeeze Page” with not just one, but dozens of Irresistible Lead Magnets to choose from, leading to…
- An invitation to an Irresistible Webinar, leading to…
- An invitation during the webinar to try LeadPages at an irresistible price, leading to…
- Follow up emails if you attended the webinar, but didn’t make a buying decision
Step 1: Facebook Ad
Audience targeting deserves a whole post, but for now let’s assume you’ve got a bead on who you want to reach.
Your ad shows up in your target audience members newsfeed, maybe something like this:
(I know, it’s a Digital Marketer ad, not a LeadPages ad, but you get the idea…)
Step 2: Lead Capture (“Squeeze”) Page
Some will click on the ad, which takes them to a landing page:
Step 2b: Opt In Box
Some will click to get the lead magnet, and a popup opt-in box will appear:
Step 3: Thank You and Upsell Offer
Some will enter their email address, taking them to a thank you and upsell page (note the timer, injecting urgency to increase conversions):
Step 4: Webinar Presentation and invitation to try the product
During your webinar you provide awesome information – or better yet transformation – for your attendees.
After which, you’ve earned the right to invite them to try your product or service.
Some will accept.
Some will not.
Those who don’t are treated to your “Return Path”…
Step 5: Follow Up
Typically done by a pre-built email autoresponder sequence, you give your “fence-sitters” a little nudge, it that’s all they need, to try your product or service.
And there you have it – A proven way to sell stuff online!
If it wasn’t working, an uber-successful company like LeadPages wouldn’t be doing it.
Now it’s your turn!
As Zig Ziglar said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great.”
