Are You Making This Deadly Marketing Mistake?

You can talk to a wall ‘til you’re blue in the face and all you end up with is you and the wall.  I’m sure you’ll agree there’s nothing like talking to a warm, responsive audience, no matter the number.

Better yet, let me ask you a hypothetical question:

You own a hot dog and a magic genie grants you just one wish for your business.  What would you wish for?

Location?  Delicious hot dogs?  A great reputation?  Fast service?  A super low-priced exclusive supply chain?  Awesome advertising?  Lots of capital?

Better yet, I’m sure you’ll agree, is a starving crowd, all equipped with big fat wallets.

Yet, are you, like so many business owners, so wrapped up in your product, program or service that you tend to forget to look at who you’re serving?

Way back in the late 80’s, when I was naive and trying to save the world with solar panels, my uncle Frank who I admired as a very successful businessman asked me a stunning question:

Is there a market for them?

Ya’ know, that made me stop and think.  Because I really didn’t have an answer, though I suspected it was “no”.

Thank you Uncle Frank.

Once I analyzed the situation with that in mind, I made a slight shift from solar panels to attic insulation and from there to supplying insulation services to builders and jumped from starving solar guy into a very lucrative six figure income – pretty good at the time.

So let me ask you, when was the last time you checked your audience’s appestat for your hot dogs?  Not laying down credit cards and cash clamoring for what you got?

Maybe it’s time for a change.

Now here’s a truth oft forgotten: You don’t have to change your act, just change your audience.

But before you run off from what may be a perfectly good crowd with a big Jones for your particular brand of hot dog, let’s try a few simple tests.  How do you divine what they really want?

There may be a blue gazillion ways to do this; here are a few of the quickest free methods you can implement in the next five minutes:
